Babydoll Sheep
Babydoll sheep have become the heart of our farm. While I was recovering from emergency surgery at 26 weeks pregnant with our son, I spent my days in bed scrolling through Facebook. One rainy November day I found a lavender grower out in West Virginia who had Babydolls to eat around their lavender groves. The whole idea was so enchanting that I couldn't help myself from falling in love with them. After starting with two wethers, we now have a herd of 7 breeding ewes and two rams. All the sheep are registered with NABSSAR, BSRA, and BBSSA.
Lambs are available each spring. Babydoll sheep are known as the "smiling sheep" due to their adorable, wooly faces often looking like they are smiling. They are a low line sheep with very docile temperaments. They are also very easy keepers that allow us to have more of them on smaller acreage than other breeds.

The Cattle
At Little Raccoon Creek Farm we raise Angus and Simmental/Angus crosses. We started with one heifer calf that was in trade for helping with hay. That blossomed into a breeding operation for beef cattle. We also have two Holstein heifers: Flora and Fauna, that we hope will start our dairy in a few years.
The Birds
We have a variety of birds at our farm that give us bountiful gifts. Our chicken breeds give us brown, deep brown, green, blue, and white eggs. We love our chickens and they get to enjoy the privilege of being free ranged throughout the day. We also have some rescue ducks we took in, with one hen that helps give us duck eggs. As someone that loves to bake, their eggs are so fluffy and change the way you can cook.
We have 20 quail that also give us the richest, most fulfilling tiny eggs. Fun to eat. Fun for crafts. They contain around 3 to 4 times the nutrition that a chicken egg would have. They can help prevent symptoms of allergies and hay fever as well. The little guys pack a big punch.
